KANNAD propose solutions for fishing assistance in link with productivity improvement but also safeguard of the halieutic resources.
For ten years the various positioning beacons developed by the department have put the KANNAD as the world leader on the market of the tracking of drifting objects used for tuna fishing by the oceanic seineurs. This technique of fishing known as fish under FAD (Fish aggregating device) represents one of the main tuna resources on the three oceans.
The tunas, by natural phenomenon, are grouped regularly under zones of shade. Fishing under FAD consists in letting drift floating wrecks and coming there regularly to capture tuna. By tying the buoys with the rafts, the fishermen can follow regularly their positions thanks to dedicated software and move quickly towards the wreck to fish the tuna. Thus the positioning beacons allow tuna boat ship-owners to improve their productivity.
Two models of “fishing buoys” currently exist: the HF GPS buoy (radio transmission of GPS position) and the D+ buoy (satellite transmission of GPS position). During these ten last years the partnerships developed throughout the world to distribute this line of product has permitted the KANNAD to acquire an international notoriety in the tuna fishing market and a knowledge of the market of fishing in general.
KANNAD fields of competences enable it to propose solutions for the localization of fishing devices, transmission of fishing assistance data, detection and identification of fish and this as well for deep- sea fishing as local fishing while favouring those falling under logic of durable development and safeguard of the halieutics resources.
These fields are as follows:
- Systems of data transmissions (HF, Inmarsat D+, Inmarsat C, Orbcom, Irridium…)
- Autonomous systems (energy management)
- Signal and data processing
- Embarked systems (in marine environment)
- System of positioning (GPS)
- Parameters measure (temperature, acoustic recorder)
- HMI (user interface)
Apart from the fishing buoys and various evolutions in progress Martec Group already propose solutions for long line fishing (buoys to follow the drift of the lines) and will develop soon other devices dedicated to this market.
